Construction of new Morro de São Paulo airport announced

Hildécio Meireles, mayor of Cairú, Morro de São Paulo region, has announced that 125,000 hectares/309,000 acres of land that belonged to Boa Vista, Oriente and Guarapuá have been expropriated. According to the municipal official bulletin, “the mentioned area will be used to build an airport that can house bigger planes”, which are the norm nowadays for domestic flights in Brazil. A commission has been put together to evaluate the area, appraise the properties and produce a report with their findings.
